Your tasks

  • Contribute to the scientific organization of the Research Unit, based in Cologne
  • Support project management in administrative tasks, including project controlling, personnel coordination, reporting, and communication with the DFG
  • Organize seminar series, workshops, conferences, and other scientific events of the Research Unit
  • Coordinate scientific collaborations, including exchanges and networking with national and international research institutions and visiting scholars
  • Collaborate with graduate schools of the participating institutions to support the education and training of PhD students
  • Develop and implement the Research Unit’s professional training program
  • Provide information and guidance to researchers regarding funding programs and grant applications
  • Contribute to the implementation of initiatives promoting equal opportunities and career development
  • Assist with onboarding of new researchers
  • Develop and manage the Research Unit’s public relations activities, including its website and social media presence

Your profile

  • PhD (or equivalent degree) in the natural sciences
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Independent and structured working style with a high level of initiative
  • Excellent German and English language skills, both written and spoken
  • Interest in the research topics of the Research Unit
  • Open, approachable personality with a high level of team orientation

Your future in detail

The Research Unit 5762, coordinated by Prof. David Vilchez and Prof. Thorsten Hoppe, is dedicated to investigating the "Cell Non-Autonomous Regulation of Organismal Proteostasis." In collaboration with the University Hospital and University of Cologne, the University of Konstanz, and the Max Planck Institute for Metabolism Research, scientists from these institutions are exploring the mechanisms underlying proteostasis regulation across different tissues, both in healthy and diseased states.
For the diverse tasks of project management, we are looking for a dedicated candidate with a scientific background which has been obtained through a doctorate or equivalent degree. The project management will be responsible for the coordination of the program for the PhD students in the research group, the international networking with European and non-European partners, the organization of scientific events and conferences as well as the administrative support of the implementation of the overall project.
