Your tasks
The successful candidate will employ flow cytometry, cell culture, CRISPR and molecular biology, imaging, experimental models, and omics analysis (e.g. single cell RNAseq and metabolomics) to interrogate lymphocyte metabolism and function in health and disease.
Applicants will have access to cutting-edge technology and the opportunity to join a highly collaborative environment of several well-established groups working closely together in studying immune cell responses in cardiovascular disease and oncology models.
Your profile
- We seek highly motivated and dynamic candidates with a PhD in biomedical sciences or related fields. Experience in the aforementioned areas, especially in flow cytometry, primary cell culture and a background in immunology (e.g. evidenced by highimpact publications) is required. Preferred candidates will have bioinformatics skills for omics analysis or are trained in immunemetabolism research.
- You will participate in establishing a dynamic scientific program studying immune responses by T cells. Your involvement in writing grants is encouraged with the goal of your own third-party funding acquisition.

Your future in detail
A position is available focusing on immunometabolism and
unconventional T cells at the Faculty of Medicine at the University Hospital Cologne, Germany. Join us to work on the interface of innate and adaptive immune responses, focusing on innate-like, unconventional T cells. We explore
how these lymphocytes mediate inflammatory, but also tissue regenerative responses that are driven by distinct metabolic and nutrient programs and impacted by diet. We thrive to understand how mouse and human unconventional T cells exert both pro-inflammatory and repair functions on a fundamental and mechanistic level, and also how this impacts immunotherapy of cancer, cardiovascular disease, as well as the interface of these diseases, the emerging field of cardio-oncology.
Applications from female candidates are expressly welcome and will be given priority in the event of equal suitability, competence and professional performance. People with disabilities are welcome to apply and will be treated preferentially in the event of equal suitability and qualification. The position is suitable for staffing with part-time employees.
