As the world’s emergency pharmacy, action medeor has been committed to improving global health for over 60 years. Our vision is simple: No one should die from treatable diseases. To achieve this, we supply healthcare facilities with medical aid and strengthen local health systems through our projects around the world. Thanks to our 4,000-square-metre pharmaceutical warehouse at our headquarters in Tönisvorst, Germany, we can dispatch emergency relief supplies within a very short time when humanitarian crises occur.
In addition to the action medeor Foundation and action medeor labworks GmbH, our family also includes our country offices in Tanzania and Malawi.

For our Programmes & Medical Aid Department, we are looking for a Pharmaceutical Supply Officer (m/f/d) at the earliest possible date. The position is preferably a full-time role based at our headquarters in Tönisvorst on the Lower Rhine region of Germany. Under certain conditions, an international appointment with remote working arrangements may also be possible.

Your Responsibilities

Pharmaceutical Supply in Humanitarian Settings and Long-Term Partnership Programmes

  • Planning, coordinating and providing technical oversight for pharmaceutical supply activities in emergency and disaster response as well as long-term partnership programmes
  • Conducting and supporting needs assessments, field assessments, monitoring and evaluations of medical aid shipments
  • Ensuring needs-based, quality-assured and context-appropriate pharmaceutical supply

Pharmaceutical Technical Advisory and Quality Assurance

  • Providing technical guidance to partner organisations as well as development cooperation and humanitarian aid projects on pharmaceutical supply, quality assurance and relevant standards
  • Supporting supplier qualification processes and addressing quality-related issues throughout the supply chain

Partnerships, Networks and Systems Strengthening

  • Supporting the development of sustainable pharmaceutical supply systems in partner countries
  • Establishing and maintaining partnerships, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa
  • Developing, coordinating and maintaining a network of pharmaceutical consultants

Internal Collaboration, Development and Knowledge Management

  • Communicating and coordinating with partner organisations, internal departments and external stakeholders
  • Contributing to the strategic development of the Medical Aid Unit
  • Supporting knowledge management as well as the development and optimisation of pharmaceutical processes

Your Profile

  • A degree in Pharmacy or a comparable scientific qualification; ideally complemented by further training in Public Health or Global Health as well as professional development in humanitarian aid and/or development cooperation
  • Strong expertise in pharmaceutical quality assurance, ideally including international standards such as WHO guidelines, GDP or MQAS
  • Relevant international professional experience in pharmaceutical and humanitarian contexts, ideally including practical experience in Sub-Saharan Africa and/or emergency response settings
  • Experience in local pharmaceutical procurement
  • Experience in needs assessments, monitoring and evaluation, and project management
  • Experience conducting or supporting assessments and audits
  • Excellent written and spoken English and French; additional language skills (e.g. German) are an advantage
  • Excellent MS Office skills
  • Openness to using AI-supported working methods and tools
  • Willingness to travel, including to fragile and challenging environments
  • A goal-oriented and quality-focused way of working
  • Strong coordination and organisational skills
  • Intercultural sensitivity and strong team spirit
