Your mission is to take on a key role within the BMBF-funded project Forschungscluster Modellfabrik Papier (FOMOP) focussing on “System Change in Fluid”. You will work closely with experienced experts in an interdisciplinary and collaborative working environment at the interface between science and industry in the paper sector.

Your tasks
- Your expertise is sought to contribute to the development of technology carriers for dry paper laying, bonding of the laid web and for paper production using an innovative fluid
- You will actively work in multidisciplinary teams to exchange ideas, discuss and find the best solutions, discuss ideas and find the best solutions
- Based on laboratory results and literature research, you will make an essential contribution to implementing the next scaling stage (pilot plant / technology carrier) on a pilot plant scale
- Your tasks include planning the plant in close coordination with the team and project partners as well as procuring and assembling the individual parts and implementing measurement and control systems
- In order to make possible changes and connect different individual segments with each other, you will design the overall plant to be as variable as possible
- Based on the results of the experiments carried out, you will help to implement possibilities for optimizing the processes.
- You have successfully completed a Master’s degree in mechanical/process engineering or a related field
- You already have initial experience in the design and construction of technical systems or are practically inclined
- You would like to expand your knowledge in the field of planning and construction of experimental test stands up to the pilot plant - You enjoy setting up a plant and supervising the entire process from planning to the finished technology carrier
- The topics of environmentally friendly processes and sustainability (in the paper industry) are important to you
- You enjoy working in a collaborative team and developing innovative technology carriers together with your colleagues, but are also interested in continuous optimization
- With excellent communication skills, you can clearly convey complex scientific concepts

Location
The Modellfabrik Papier will be built on the site of the Innovation Quarter at the Düren train station. Until the completion of our new building in early 2025, our activities will take place at the Jülich Research Center. Further office space is currently located in the CO_SPACE.DN.
