Als Backend Developer bei SpotmyEnergy baust und skalierst du die zentralen Services, die unser intelligentes Energiemanagement für Haushalte möglich machen. Dein Fokus liegt auf der Entwicklung von Optimierungslogik und der nahtlosen Integration von Energiegeräten wie Wallboxen, Wärmepumpen, PV-Anlagen und Heimspeichern. Mit Zeitreihendaten und verteilten Backendsystemen entwickelst du smarte, automatisierte Energielösungen - nachhaltig, effizient und zukunftsweisend.

Deine Verantwortlichkeiten

• Optimization Services: Entwicklung und Verbesserung von Backend-Services für intelligente Energieoptimierungsstrategien.
• Device Interoperability: Aufbau von Schnittstellen und APIs zur Integration unterschiedlichster smarter Energiegeräte in unsere Plattform.
• Time Series Data Handling: Design, Abfrage und Optimierung von Zeitreihendatenströmen.
• Scalable Backend Development: Schreiben von sauberem, effizientem und wartbarem Code in unserer Microservice-Architektur.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Enge Zusammenarbeit mit Product Managern und Engineers, um Anforderungen in robuste Backend-Lösungen zu übersetzen.

Dein Profil

• Programming Expertise: Fundierte Erfahrung in der Backend-Entwicklung mit Golang; Python-Kenntnisse sind ein Plus.
• Database Knowledge: Routine im Umgang mit PostgreSQL sowie Erfahrung mit Zeitreihendaten (Influx / Timescale).
• Backend Architecture: Vertraut mit Microservice-Architekturen und verteilten Systemen.
• Containerization & Cloud (Plus): Erfahrung mit Docker, Kubernetes und AWS ist von Vorteil.
• Energy Sector Interest (Preferred): Know-how zu Energiesystemen, smarten Geräten oder Nachhaltigkeitsthemen ist ein Bonus.
• Team Player: Starke Kommunikationsfähigkeiten und Lust auf Zusammenarbeit über Product und Tech hinweg.
• Language Skills: Sehr gutes Englisch für Teamarbeit und Stakeholder-Kommunikation, Deutschkenntnisse sind ein Plus.
• Standort: Wohnsitz in Deutschland mit Bereitschaft, einmal pro Quartal zum Team-Event nach Köln zu kommen.

The Job

As a Backend Developer at SpotmyEnergy, you’ll design and scale the core services powering our household energy management system. Your work will focus on building optimization logic and ensuring seamless integration with devices such as EV chargers, heat pumps, PV systems, and home batteries. By working with time series data and distributed backend systems, you’ll help create smarter, automated energy solutions that drive sustainability and efficiency.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Optimization Services: Develop and enhance backend services that implement household energy optimization strategies.
• Device Interoperability: Build APIs and interfaces to connect a wide range of smart energy devices to our platform.
• Time Series Data Handling: Design, query, and optimize time series data flows.
• Scalable Backend Development: Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code for our microservice-based architecture.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers and other Engineers to translate requirements into reliable backend solutions.

Your Profile

• Programming Expertise: Strong experience in backend development with Golang; Python experience is a plus.
• Database Knowledge: Proficient with PostgreSQL and experienced in handling time series data (Influx / Timescale).
• Backend Architecture: Familiar with microservice architectures and distributed systems.
• Containerization & Cloud (Plus): Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS is advantageous.
• Energy Sector Interest (Preferred): Knowledge of energy systems, smart devices, or sustainability topics is highly valued.
• Team Player: Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset across Product and Tech.
• Language Skills: Fluent English for teamwork and stakeholder discussions; German is a plus.
• Location: Residence in Germany with willingness to attend quarterly team events in Cologne.
